ABOUT TRAINING
10-day intensive course
Lectures and practical sessions aboard the yacht and catamaran.
Обучение на яхте и катамаране в школе капитанов SEA PILGRIMS проходит в формате 10 дневного интенсива и состоит из нескольких этапов.
The practice lasts for 10 days, with 5 days on a sailing yacht and 5 days on a catamaran, with students and an instructor or an instructor + assistant instructor.
During the practical sessions, students sail over 200+ nautical miles, both during day and night passages. Throughout the sea training, students cover all sections of theory and practically apply their skills at sea on a yacht. The main goal is to learn how to manage a yacht, practice mooring in various ways, work with sails under different conditions, practice ways of interacting with other participants of sea voyages, etc.
Typically, practices are conducted on a yacht with a group of students, each provided with a separate cabin. Individual training can also be arranged. By agreement, students are allowed to bring a close person with them on the yacht. In addition to yacht management watches, students take turns performing galley duties (cooking and washing dishes, maintaining order on the boat). Although the practice is standard, we are always happy to hear your suggestions and wishes.
During the practice, the instructor creates a checklist for each student, noting their skills in various tasks. Based on this data, the result of each student's successful or unsuccessful completion of the practice is determined.
We want to emphasize that the completion of the sea practice by a student does not guarantee the receipt of skipper licenses.
In addition to the cost of the practice, students must pay for: the flight to the location of the practice, the transfer to the marina and back (we will help organize this), as well as a general ship's cash fund (€150-€200), which includes expenses for food, mooring fees at marinas, refilling the yacht with fresh water and connecting it to shore power, fuel used for training exercises. Students make an insurance deposit, which is returned at the end of the training if the boat is returned without any damages. We strongly recommend taking care of medical insurance for traveling abroad. The insurance should cover active sports and include yachting.

Booking conditions
To reserve a spot, a prepayment of €200
- The remaining amount must be paid no less than 14 days before the start of the practice.
- The opportunity to reserve a spot "for a few days" is provided for participants who need time to approve vacation days, booking, and payment for participation. The price of this service is 150 euros, and the validity period is limited to 48 hours.
- If the reservation is canceled more than one month before the start of the event, all funds are returned to the client, except for administrative expenses, including commissions and transfer fees.
- In the case of withdrawal from participation in the practice less than one month before the start of training, the deposited advance is returned only on the condition that another participant is found who can take the vacated spot.
Licensing
Upon completion of the practical training, each student undergoes examination testing. Upon successful completion, course participants receive the ISSA Inshore Skipper license for operating a yacht and catamaran, as well as the VHF ISSA Professional radio operator certificate.
These licenses allow for the rental and operation of a yacht and catamaran at any time of the day. The license has no expiration date and does not require renewal every few years.
