TRAINING FORMATS
10-day intensive
How we teach?
Training at the SEA PILGRIMS captain school is conducted in the format of a 10-day intensive and consists of several stages.
The entire training course takes place directly on board a yacht and catamaran in the Mediterranean Sea, in such picturesque places as the Lycian coast of Turkey and the island of Rhodes in Greece. The theoretical part in the form of lectures is taught by an instructor daily before practicing practical tasks. Throughout the 10 days, students will have the opportunity to immediately apply the knowledge gained in practice. Since there are only 4 students on board the yacht and catamaran, everyone is guaranteed to have enough time to assimilate the material and reinforce it through practice. A lot of schools, we do not have situations where someone didn't get a chance to "take the helm" due to lack of time, bad weather, etc.
During the training, a lecture is conducted every morning. Then, in the format of live communication with the instructor, we discuss all arising questions. Directly on the yacht and catamaran, together with the instructor, we observe, check, learn, and try to perform tasks independently.
Under the guidance of our instructors, you will master all types of moorings in different conditions, working with sails, tying maritime knots, managing the yacht, making crossings between islands, including night crossings. The mandatory program also includes the study and practice of radio communication rules and watchkeeping on the yacht.
Perhaps one week at sea won't turn you into an experienced sailor, but for sure , the first few hundred nautical miles covered during practice are something you will never forget. Upon completion of the practice, course participants will enhance their qualifications, receiving yacht skipper licenses and ISSA standard radio operator certificates.
You will learn how to sail yachts and catamarans up to 24 meters in length on your own and will be ready for new achievements and trips under sail or on a motor yacht.
The international ISSA standards and the skipper training system at SEA PILGRIMS provide the opportunity to gain the necessary experience to manage modern sailing yachts, catamarans, and motor yachts up to 24 meters in length.
